How Can You Begin to Describe My Work? Well some descriptive adjectives could be helpful tools: Colorful. Bright. Touching. Enviromental. Surprising. Vibrant. Rich. Location. Willful. Studio. Fast. Resourceful. Creative. Funny. On time and on budget.

Now, What About me, The Photographer?

I am a tall native Texan and proud of it. I have been shooting people for 15 years and love every minute of it but the gist of my work is problem solving. My clients range from national advertising agencies, magazines, corporations and design firms. There are a lot of photographers out there, we all know that, but I come with a great attitude, a great crew, a great studio when needed, not to mention a stable of real people models available for photo shoots and on-line casting for no additional cost for extra use. (www.realpeoplemodels.com)

For more than 15 years, my portraits have been featured on magazine covers, billboards, national advertising campaign, book cover and corporate collateral material. I think that I am good with all kinds of people, from the most famous to the poorest of the poor. Every assignment is a joy, a challenge and a problem that I solve by taking a great picture when some-times there is really no picture to take at all.

I started as a photographer after graduating from the University of Texas in Austin and owning a small graphic design shop with three employees. After a while, I noticed that all I was doing was managing a business: I craved to get back to the creative end, so I jumped the fence and started shooting. I remember that my motto was 'learn while you earn', and that's what I did.

I shot mostly studio shots because that was all I knew how to do. I taught myself how to shoot on location and that today encompasses most of my assignments.

After 15 years in the same location near downtown Houston, we have a great new studio built in my backyard (www.twohydepark.com)

In my spare time, I started a modeling agency, called Real People, that represents people with no experience in modeling, who are good in front of the camera . All Real People headshosts can be viewed on-line. That agency lives on a web site that I started in 1995 before most of us knew what a web site was, called Turn to Texas, because I believe that the Lone Star state has as many great photographers as anywhere else in the world. I just sold both businesses so that they can get the attention they deserve, and I can go back to just being a photographer.

So with nothing else on my plate, raising two dogs, shooting all over the place (just finished a book on the Trading Spaces stars) I went into a stock photography business shooting animals with retouching partners, Wayne and Beverly Gilbert, called Digital Animal Farm. It's a lot of fun, so if anyone wants a photo of their favorite pet, come join us or e-mail me and we will put you on our pet portrait e-mailing list. (pamfrancis@pamfrancis.com)
