Buying Online Still Worry You? Having heard some of the internet fraud stories circulating, it's easy to be concerned about buying on the web. Like many of you, I've purchased some big ticket items online, mostly without incident. Earlier this year two of my major credit cards stopped working suddenly and simultaneously. Kind'a embarrassing when you have to fish for another card in a store while the clerk taps his/her foot. It seems that my identity had been stolen by an interenet random number scam. The good news is that the credit card companies were on it like white on rice, issued new cards in a week and credited me the few fraudulent charges after I filled out a form. It
didn't cost me a cent, but I've become more wary.... ••• Pat Tillman - A True American Hero by Paul F. Gero News of Pat Tillman’s death while fighting in Afghanistan hit America like a punch to our collective stomach. Say it wasn’t so? Pat became the symbol for American resolve in the wake of the 9-11 attacks. The fact that he gave up a promising NFL career while in his prime with a multi-million dollar contract that went with it to join the US Army with the goal of Ranger was so typically Pat according to people that knew him well. He shunned the limelight in making this decision and gave no interviews, and even went to the extreme of driving to Denver (with his brother Kevin who joined with Pat) to begin the enlistment process. Pat simply would not talk with the media hungry to report this story-- unheard of in these days of headline-grabbing athletes. Pat Tillman will always have a special place in my heart for not only giving the ultimate sacrifice to defend this country, but for what he gave me as I photographed him back in 1997 on my first assignment for Sports Illustrated....
